About this playlist

Luz y ruina del río Luz y ruina del río is a sound work by Central Electrónica that explores the transformations of the Santa Catarina River in Monterrey, amidst environmental devastation and collective resistance. Composed with field recordings, electronic synthesis, and slow textures, the piece inhabits the boundary between landscape and ruin, between scientific listening and affective memory.

Central Electrónica pays tribute to the historic stores of sound and electronic devices located in downtown Monterrey — such as Electrónica Nacional, Central Electrónica, and others — spaces where a culture of listening, repair, and popular experimentation has been cultivated for decades. From an urban and material memory, Central Electrónica proposes a poetics of the territory through sound, intertwining scientific research, ecological restoration, and electronic exploration to build a critical listening of the rivers, forests, and cities of northern Mexico.

This playlist is a gesture of support for the river: a way to remember it as alive, political, and persistent.
