Linnea Hansander (1983, based in Stockholm) works with multidisciplinary situations, focused on people and existential questions. Her practice is often participant-based and includes elements of performance (like parties, karaoke, set designs, comedy and puppetry). With a background in theatre, she aims for the kind of lucid, semi-awake experience you have when reading a book or dreaming (in performance theory they call it “state of play”). She likes the unreal and the real, hit songs, TV, feelings, and doing things with others. Thematically, most of her works revolve around time, how it feels and what it does to us (loss, grief, forgetting, longing, regretting). Hansander was part of the self- organised live art scene in London and Berlin for over a decade before getting an MFA from Konstfack University of Arts in 2018. Her first major solo exhibition was shown at Index - the Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation (Stockholm) in 2022. She is also the founder of Strong Dreams, a group of visual artists making performances for theater, notably for Strindbergs Intima Teater.
