Xiuxiuejar, trobar, escoltar

A playlist born from the collective exercise of whispering to each other songs that have marked us throughout our lives.

This playlist emerged from a game, like the broken telephone game, where one by one we whispered the title of a song to each other. After each round, we’d listen to the song—sometimes it was the right one, and sometimes it wasn’t...

About this playlist

As part of the exhibition ‘108 days’ by Lydia Ourahmane we gathered at MACBA. There, we shared songs that marked our lives in some way. We chose a song without telling anyone the title; we wrote and drew thinking about when we listened to it for the first time: how old we were, where we were, if we listened to it alone or with company, if we still listened to it from time to time. Then, we made a circle and played the broken telephone game. One person started by whispering the title of their song to the person next to them and so on until the round was over; the last person had to search on the internet for the song that had reached them. Sometimes we got it right (sometimes we didn't). We listened to both songs, the right one and the wrong one, and we talked about the reasons for choosing it, about the emotions that came up every time it was played.

Many thanks to each of the participants: Adry, Guim, Esther, Ale, Jorge, Julien, Dani, Anne, Aly, Blanca.

This playlist gathers the songs that emerged from this meeting. This activity will be activated again in the future; with other people, in other spaces.
