About this playlist
A playlist dedicated to natural elements, life cycles and the richness of ancestral traditions accompanied by the voice of Bamby Satou.
I met Bamby Satou on a trip to Dakar, Senegal. During a visit to her studio, she shared some tracks from her EP, inspired by Guddi – Sun of the Night, a theatrical creation performed by the company La Fabrique des Possibles and I was deeply moved by her voice. This musical project is an extension of that play, which inspired her to explore profound themes such as honoring one's roots and the need to build a sustainable future. With this album, Bamby Satou seeks to shed light on her Lebou and Peulh origins, as well as their cosmogonies. At the same time, she aims to incorporate a clear-sighted view of the challenges facing the world today—climate change, environmental pressures, and the impact of modern technologies, which often distance us from our humanity, pushing us toward an increasingly individualistic society and causing us to lose the essential connections that unite us with one another and with nature. The sounds in this playlist are designed to awaken consciousness. They reflect natural elements, life cycles, and the richness of ancestral traditions.
The tracks in this EP oscillate between Diola rhythms, electronic beats, and acoustic tones. Natural elements, life cycles, and the richness of ancestral traditions through electronic beats, acoustic tones, and the voice of Bamby Satou from Senegal.
